Ailyn Garley is a Guiding Idol
Local girlguiding volunteer Ailyn Garley of Clitheroe has been recognised as one of 83 ‘Guiding Idols’ in North West England. Ailyn Garley who is the leader of Grindelton Brownies was surprised by the award which is led by a regional charity to acknowledge all the volunteers efforts.
Girlguiding North West England were asked to nominate a volunteer which they felt had made a positive impact and should be recognised as a ‘Guiding Hero.’ Ailyn Garley was part of those selected. A youth panel aged between 7 and 14 had the final decision and chose 83 volunteers from across the region as ‘Guiding Idols.’
All the volunteers chosen were invited to a celebration afternoon held at the Girl Guiding North West England region headquarters. The afternoon was packed with fun-filled activities including a candy floss machine and a thought provoking exercise.
A Region Thanks badge was awarded to Ailyn from the Region Chief Commisioner. Ailyn says “I’m feeling very honoured and surprised to have been nominated and I’ve had a lovely day celebrating with all the other Guiding Idols” (Longridge News).
